Penny Pennington began her career at Edward Jones in 2000 as a financial advisor in Michigan. She quickly moved up the ranks—and moved to the firm’s headquarters in St. Louis. She became managing partner, the firm's top position, in 2019. Edward Jones has been trying to modernize and add new services to support its advisors. A proposed partnership with Citigroup to begin offering checking and savings products was canceled earlier this year amid Citi's reorganization, but Edward Jones announced a similar arrangement with U.S. Bank in August. Revenue was up 12% at Edward Jones in 2023, and financial advisor headcount is up 2%—a rarity at a time when many other financial firms are cutting back. Outside of Edward Jones, Pennington is a member as a large-firm governor of the FINRA Board of Governors and a board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, and the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees.
