Mpumi Madisa

Mpumi Madisa has led Bidvest, an international services, trading, and distribution company based in South Africa with over 130,000 employees, since 2021. When she ascended to the top, she was the sole Black woman to lead a top 40 company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Prior to becoming CEO, Madisa served in a number of senior roles at Bidvest, including general manager of business development, corporate affairs director, and sales and marketing director. Madisa and Bidvest made a number of tactical moves over the past year, including 11 acquisitions; the company also put Bidvest Bank and FinGlobal for sale, as part of broader restructuring efforts. Though its performance wasn't as strong as the previous year's, 2023 was a solid year for Bidvest, with revenues growing by 6.7% and five of its seven divisions reporting profit growth.
