Italian-born Margherita Della Valle became Vodafone CEO in 2023, making her the first female chief in the history of the British telecommunications company. Della Valle, who has spent three decades at Vodafone, most recently as its CFO, is tasked with boosting profits and reversing the company’s slumping share price. Part of her turnaround plan includes merging Vodafone’s U.K business with rival Three, which would create Britain’s largest mobile network. After attracting concerns from regulators, the £15 billion ($20 billion) deal has received conditional government approval. Della Valle has also sold off Vodafone’s Spanish and Italian arms for €5 billion ($5.6 billion) and €8 billion ($8.9 billion), respectively.
