Ann-Marie Campbell joined Home Depot in 1985 as a cashier in South Florida. Over 35 years, she worked her way up to her current role as senior EVP with stints as a store manager, district manager, and regional vice president. A year ago, Home Depot expanded Campbell’s portfolio to include its Canadian and Mexican divisions, on top of U.S. stores and operations. Home Depot has struggled in the past two years, as the do-it-yourself boom that took place during COVID has faded. Last year, net sales slipped 3%, and the company has warned investors to expect the tough environment to persist this year. Campbell is the principal architect behind Home Depot’s plan to go after far more of professional contractors’ spending on large projects by becoming their central provider of tools and materials.
