Progressive motored along in 2020, with revenue rising more than 9% as the pandemic kept drivers off the road. The insurer also gained market share, writing 8% more net premiums last year and expanding its footprint in commercial auto insurance with the early 2021 acquisition of Protective Insurance for $338 million. Its stock price, though, has had a bumpy ride of late, and profits fell in the second quarter of 2021.
