As chairperson of the holding company she took over following her husband’s death in 2009, Louis-Dreyfus oversees a commodities house called Louis Dreyfus Co., the world’s largest cotton and rice trader and the second-largest sugar trader. The Louis-Dreyfus family holds a majority stake in the company through a trust her late husband set up in Amsterdam. Amid a global crop glut, the trading house turned in dismal results in 2015, with sales tumbling 14% to $55.7 billion and profit plummeting 67%, to $221 million.
