Lin Tao made history in April 2025 as Sony's first female CFO, overseeing finance, strategy, corporate planning, and investor relations at the global entertainment giant. Joining Sony in 2000, she rose through its PlayStation and smartphone divisions before becoming SVP of finance and strategy at Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2021, where she helped close the $3.7 billion Bungie acquisition. But now a recent decision by PlayStation to end the production of physical discs for new games—and push gamers towards digital-only sales—has put her, and Sony, on the defensive.
