For nearly three decades, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos served as the retail giant’s all-powerful chief executive. In his new phase of life, Bezos oversees the squad of CEOs who operate his various companies, including Amazon, the Blue Origin rocket company, and the Washington Post, as well as the Bezos Earth Fund. There’s a lot going on. Blue Origin completed its first all-female expedition, while the $10 billion Earth Fund recently announced 24 grants for AI-powered climate solutions. Bezos also flexed his might at the Washington Post, where he’s attempting to power through the internal and subscriber fallout from his decision to kill a presidential endorsement for Kamala Harris. Through it all, Amazon’s stock jumped more than 30% year over year through early August, helping boost Bezos’s wealth to $237 billion, according to a Bloomberg estimate. Good thing; perhaps Bezos’s most crucial 2025 decision was an expensive one: marrying his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Sánchez, in a lavish wedding held in Venice, Italy, at an estimated cost of $50 million.
