Martine Rothblatt

When her six-year-old daughter was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare and incurable lung and heart disease, Rothblatt remained undeterred. In response, she founded her own biotech company United Therapeutics, with the mission of finding a cure. Rothblatt started her transition in the early 1990s, a time when being openly trans in business was a rarity.
