In 2020, in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, corporations and their employees were moved like never before to find greater purpose and make an impact. Benevity has become a leader in empowering people to give back. A donation-processing platform based in Canada, Benevity not only connects corporations with nonprofits worldwide but also provides opportunities for their employees to volunteer their time and skills and become activists in small ways. In 2020 alone, it processed $2.3 billion in donations and facilitated 6.9 million hours of volunteering, seeing exponential spikes in giving to nonprofits and other organizations that support racial justice and equity and combat food insecurity. One of the first certified B Corps in Canada and a recent $1.1 billion unicorn, Benevity supports 326,000 nonprofits worldwide and works with more than 700 corporate clients, including Fortune 500 companies Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Nike. It aims to achieve 37 million “acts of goodness” in 2021, which would translate to 30% growth.
