Intercontinental Exchange is the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. Based in Atlanta, the firm was founded by current chairman and CEO, Jeffrey C. Sprecher, in 2000. In 2018, Sprecher launched Bakkt, which operated initially as a Bitcoin futures exchange. In 2025, ICE announced that it would invest up to $2 billion into the blockchain-built prediction market Polymarket. Less than one year later, in 2026, the NYSE parent invested in the crypto exchange OKX at a $25 billion valuation.
