Many of the workers at this transmission-only electric utility based in Waukesha, Wis. say they love to cook—and use their culinary skills to benefit the city’s homeless residents. Four times a year, at least 20 employees plan and prepare a meal and serve it to clients of Freedom House, a nearby shelter. “Homelessness in our community is a little behind the curtain,” says Crystal Koles, senior environmental project manager and one of the event’s organizers. “But when you’re exposed to Freedom House, you have your eyes opened.” Read the Great Place to Work review here.
