“Figure out what kind of impact you want to have on the world before you die, then focus on building the skills you need to make that impact.” That’s the advice Zipline cofounder and CEO Keller Rinaudo’s father passed on to him, and he’s taken it to heart, transforming self-flying drones into practical tools for the medical logistics industry. Rinaudo’s company has a way of finding the hardest-to-reach places while carrying the most precious of products. Zipline has used drones to deliver drugs and blood to remote villages and urban centers in Rwanda and Ghana. Since March, it has delivered more than 34,000 COVID vaccine doses via drone to the rural reaches of Ghana. The company was also tapped to deliver vaccines supplied under the World Health Organization’s COVAX project to developing nations. Zipline is gearing up to launch its offerings in Nigeria, Japan, and the United States.
