A U.S. Marine who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as a Princeton graduate, Corcoran is now a star banker for companies looking to go public. He has helped lead the IPOs of Facebook, Twitter, Snap, and Uber—as well as orchestrated the 2018 direct listing of Spotify, a novel way of entering the public markets that has since led other tech companies to consider copying the move. While he has also had a hand in several major tech M&A deals, his usual work with companies has taken a back seat in the pandemic: “I am generally not helping companies raise growth capital today; I am helping companies raise capital to survive and to keep people employed,” he says. A disabled veteran, Corcoran also still serves in the Marine Corps Reserve, where he has the rank of major.
