Citigroup is the third-largest banking institution in the U.S., with over 200 million customer accounts in more than 160 countries. Its directors include five former and two current CEOs—including its own, Jane Fraser; and Renee James, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Ampere Computing.

On the ESG front, in March 2021 Citigroup combined three of its investment-banking groups as part of a broader push to reduce carbon emissions. Fraser has vowed to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in Citigroup’s financing activities by 2050.

Citigroup’s board lineup scored high on gender equality, board independence, and board expertise. Other notable names on its board include Ernesto Zedillo, former president of Mexico, and S. Leslie Ireland, the former assistant secretary for intelligence and analysis at the Treasury Department.
