Not only does Workiva have a strong commitment to equity, the business software company takes a holistic approach to fostering diversity and inclusion. Employees are able to do their jobs “wherever and whenever is best for them” as part of the flexible work policy. The company has added additional days of paid time off and holds internal strategy sessions on recruitment as part of an effort to identify a wide range of qualified job candidates. The Belong Campaign is a six-week program with training and resources to emphasize how diversity, equity, and inclusion work together to create a culture where staff feel valued and respected. “Everyone celebrates wins, checks their egos at the door, and thinks of mistakes as learning and growth opportunities to improve both the employee’s skill sets and the organization as a whole,” says one worker.
