Founded in Silicon Valley at the dawn of the computer age, Western Digital is one of the world’s largest producers of hard disk drives used for data storage. The company’s portfolio of magnetic hard drives includes products designed for personal computing and for the data centers that power today’s cloud services. Western Digital spun out its flash memory business in February 2025, creating a separate publicly traded company under the SanDisk brand.
