Pay inequity is one of the thorniest problems for corporations to deal with, but Vizient, a company that works with health care organizations to improve performance, enacted a pay transparency initiative in 2021, providing a forum in which to share information on pay. Vizient conducts annual assessments of pay scales in its industry to review and align compensation plans accordingly. All salary adjustments, except for annual merit increases, are routed through the compensation team for review and approval. These include salary offers to external hires; offers to internal hires; increases requested to recognize growth and performance; and increases that are part of a promotion. Equity is a primary consideration in all of these reviews. “There’s a tremendous commitment from executives to make this a great place to work,” says one employee. “Without exception, they follow through on their commitments to do just that.” Read the Great Place to Work review.
