Vivo (Telefônica Brasil) is the leading telecommunications company in Brazil, with 112 million mobile and land lines in one of the most populous countries in the Americas. It is also one of the most environmentally conscious. Starting in 2006, the company saw a need to tackle the massive problem of e-waste and created the Vivo Recicle program, which offers around 1,800 collection points for disposal of cell phones, tablets, headphones, chargers, and batteries. Since then, the company has recycled or properly disposed of 139 tons of e-waste through this program and in 2022 alone it disposed of 11.3 tons. In 2022, the company also recycled 2,000 employee uniforms that would otherwise be discarded into eco-bags and gifts.
