Cyber-60-2023-Upwind

Founded just last year, Israeli cybersecurity startup Upwind is valued at $300 million. The platform detects and responds to threats in companies’ cloud infrastructures in real time, which can save time and money for security teams. At the helm is Amiram Shachar, who sold his previous startup Spot.io, which helped companies automate their cloud infrastructures, to data management company NetApp in 2020 for $450 million. In 2022, Shachar reunited with the founding Spot.io team to take their cloud optimization skills into the cybersecurity business with Upwind.

–Upwind emerged out of stealth mode in September and closed a $50 million investment round, bringing its total funding to $80 million. 
–Investors include Greylock Partners, Cyberstarts Venture Capital, Craft Ventures, and Penny Jar Capital, the early-stage fund in which basketball superstar Stephen Curry is an anchor investor. 
–The new investment will help Upwind, which has offices in San Francisco and Tel Aviv, <a href="https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/steph-curry-invests-in-israeli-cyber-startup-s-50-million-round-1.1967242">more than double</a> its headcount of 70 within the next year.
