Change the World 2023
No matter how many energy-efficient light bulbs individuals use, meaningful conservation efforts have to happen on the industry level to make any difference in fighting climate change. Trimble, a Colorado-based tech company that brought in $3.65 billion in revenue last year, provides resources for businesses to make informed choices about their environmental impact. It serves high-dollar, high-emission industries including construction, transportation, and agriculture. The company has built an “embodied carbon calculator,” which helps engineers compare the carbon in different structural materials and assess the environmental footprint of their designs. Another Trimble software helps architects predict how windows, shading, and sunlight will impact the energy consumption of individual buildings. Trimble’s tech also helps businesses save money by reducing materials and waste. “We need change to happen today,” says strategy and sustainability executive Dietmar Grimm. “In working with the world’s prime economic drivers that also produce a lot of emissions, we can help them be part of the solution.”
