Approximately 40% of the food we produce is wasted every year, and that food contributes to 10% of all human-related greenhouse gas emissions as it rots in landfills. Too Good to Go, the world’s largest marketplace for surplus food, aims to fight both waste and the climate crisis. Since it launched its app in 2016, Too Good to Go has enlisted more than 81 million registered users and 145,000 active business partners across 17 countries in North America and Europe. The app helps restaurants and shops sell and donate surplus food instead of discarding it: Too Good to Go said it has helped rescue over 243 million meals.

The company also works to raise consumers’ awareness in the battle against food waste. Its “look, smell, taste, don’t waste” labeling campaign aims to nudge shoppers not to reflexively throw away the older stuff on their shelves and fridges. Today, the Look-Smell-Taste label can be found on over 6 billion products from 465 brands.
