It is America’s largest citrus grower, producing mandarin oranges, seedless lemons, and pomegranates, and is among the world’s leading growers of tree nuts. It operates in California’s agriculture center of the Central Valley and its wine regions, with operations also in Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Mexico, Fiji, and more. In February, the University of Kansas renamed its institute for sustainable engineering for the Wonderful Company after it invested nearly $2.6 billion in philanthropy and corporate social responsibility. 

In partnership with Central Valley residents—who include about 3,000 of the company’s employees—school boards, and county officials, the company has addressed issues like poor air quality and compromised water systems and has built infrastructure like community centers for kids, walkways in parks, and affordable housing as well as establishing a tax program that returns benefits back to the community. Each year, the Wonderful Company provides each of its employees with up to $1,000 they can direct to charitable organizations of their choice and provides additional matching when employees donate beyond that. Its Wonderful College Scholarship program has funded the education of more than 3,000 young people through higher education.
