Starbucks is the world’s largest coffee chain, with 21,000 company-operated stores and 19,000 licensed locations worldwide as of late 2024. Nearly half of its company-owned outlets are in the U.S. Its cafés serve hot and iced coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and specialty beverages, along with breakfast items, sandwiches, and baked goods. Starbucks is also a major coffee roaster and wholesaler, selling packaged coffee and tea in its cafés and through grocery and retail channels. The company recently launched a turnaround plan, “Back to Starbucks,” focused on improving the in-store experience and encouraging customers to spend more time at its locations.
