The U.S. branch of the European business software giant gained almost 30 places in the 2021 rankings. Company leaders adhered to a no-job-losses pledge during the pandemic, adding almost 2,010 North American employees instead. SAP also lowered bonus targets to avoid a pandemic hit to employee compensation and continued paying hourly and contract workers despite any disruptions to their hours. The “Are you okay?” initiative, created as a result of employee surveys, provided mental health resources on demand. “SAP is truly remarkable in adapting to changes and transparency with these larger global issues,” one employee notes. In June, after a virtual town hall addressed issues of racism in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, SAP created an action plan that included supporting equality and justice organizations and aiding Black-owned businesses.
