"I am about to have my third child at this company and in addition to the 3-month maternity leave, I've come to realize another thing I value about the company is that its senior leaders talk about their children and being parents. They are proud to raise families and I think talking how important it is to be working parents is something I do not take for granted and something I treasure about the company."

"This is the place I want to be for the rest of my working life. Truly, I have never felt such acceptance and happiness at my workplace. Even with our political climate in our country, everyone on my team is open-minded and comfortable stating how they feel. It's rare to find that anywhere, let alone your job! Everyone in my family and friend groups know I work here, and they know how much I love my company and my position at Rocket Mortgage."

Rocket strives to bring positive change to its hometown of Detroit—a city where Rocket founder, local billionaire Dan Gilbert, has become a considerable philanthropist. The company aims to simplify complex and inequitable systems thus ensuring that every American has access to stable, healthy housing. One way Rocket achieves this is through its Neighbor to Neighbor program, a door-to-door canvassing effort that connects residents to property tax assistance and other resources. Over a 15-year period, more than 150,000 Detroit properties have been sold through the annual property tax option, causing residents to risk losing their homes. Since 2015, Rocket has helped eligible homeowners apply for tax assistance to keep their homes. Between 2015 and 2019, the number of occupied homes entering the county tax auction decreased by 94%. (The program has since expanded to Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Atlanta.)
The Rocket Home Grant program provides employees up to $10,000 in down payment assistance: It’s proved to be an instant hit, with 100 team members taking advantage of the program in the first few months of availability.
At Rocket, employees can access educational opportunities as well: The company offers team members enrollment in undergraduate, graduate, and certification programs at no cost to them through the company’s Rock Academy. A majority of the hundreds of workers who have enrolled in the academy have been promoted to a higher role.

This Detroit-based fintech—which is celebrating 20 years on the Best Companies list—is dedicated to helping both its employees and the greater community grow and thrive thanks in part to its “for more than profit” philosophy.
- New hires are welcomed with The Roadmap, a three-day interactive orientation event introducing them on their first day to Rocket’s culture and philosophy.
- After new team members are introduced to the company’s culture, focus is shifted to The Journey, a learning-and-development service—including instructor-led training and mentoring programs—that is dedicated to employees’ professional growth within the company.
- Ninety-seven percent of employees say they feel positively about the way they “contribute to the community,” owing to Rocket’s philanthropic programs like the Detroit Tax Relief Fund, the Detroit Eviction Defense Fund, and a $500 million commitment to improving Detroit neighborhoods.
- Last year, Rocket Companies introduced the Million Dollar Referral: Each time team members refer someone to get a mortgage and the client closes on that mortgage, they are entered for the chance to win a million dollars.

We are encouraged to volunteer and give back to our communities, and Rocket Mortgage is right there with you, paying it forward to others. This company wears its heart on its sleeve, and I am proud to be able to be part of that heart."

"I am unaware if other companies do this, but one thing our company, and family of companies do really well is respond to feedback. Seeing that feedback was given, and how our leaders took action on it, makes you feel like everyone's voice matters. Thats what great companies do."
