Rittal North America
Rittal Corporation is a hi-tech cabinetmaker for the cloud. Founded in Springfield, Ohio, in 1982 and headquartered now just outside Chicago in Schaumburg, Ill., the business designs and manufactures data center IT closets, commonly standing a little taller than the average man. Humanity’s ever-exploding digital footprint resides on machines tucked inside the company’s standard, 19-inch-wide server racks, which are exquisitely engineered to maintain a stable, dust-free, climate-controlled environment. Rittal is the U.S. subsidiary of Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, a German business established in 1961 and named for the place it was founded, the quaint, woody district of Rittershausen in Dietzhölztal. Rittal’s 105-acre campus in Urbana, Ohio, holds a record, too; the site boasts a three-mile-long painting line, the longest in North America outside the auto industry.
