The open source software giant acquired by IBM in 2019 gained 20 places in this year’s ranking. With thousands of staff forced to work from home, Red Hat gave out stipends to pay for ergonomic furniture and computer hardware. To assist employees with kids learning remotely, the company offered BümoBrain’s educational resources as an added benefit. The company’s Blacks United in Leadership and Diversity (BUILD) employee resource group, in partnership with its corporate citizenship team, chose recipients for additional donations as part of its support for Black associates amid the George Floyd protests; the donations went to the Southern Coalition for Social Justice and the Color of Change. Associates also organized a project to paint a mural near the company’s headquarters in Raleigh, N.C. “Great care has been given to support not only the health of employees, but our emotional well-being as well,” notes one worker.
