Consulting firm Protiviti marks its seventh year on the list as it moved proactively to tackle the coronavirus crisis. The company allowed employees to spend time on caretaking without dipping into their vacation days, and relaxed tenure requirements on its sabbatical program. Executives took reduced pay as the pandemic ramped up, even though no layoffs or furloughs were ever announced. Company leadership “frequently checked in—both from the executive level and from the local management level—with employees to ensure that anyone who was struggling with staying home felt supported and connected to mental health resources,” a worker says.
