Founded in 1847 as a London tobacco shop, Philip Morris International is now one of the world’s largest tobacco companies and the conglomerate behind Marlboro and Parliament cigarettes, as well as Zyn nicotine pouches. In 2016, PMI set a goal for a “smoke-free future” for the company, planning to eventually eliminate the sale of its combustible tobacco products. Since then, PMI has pushed the expansion of noncombustible nicotine products like heat-not-burn tobacco products and e-cigarettes. It acquired Swedish Match, the creator of Zyn, in 2022.
