Last year, Perkins Coie, which has more than 2,500 employees in 20 offices around the world, revised its Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan to address more specific goals and metrics over a three-year period. As a result, in 2021 the firm had its most diverse summer associate class, which was 70% racially/ethnically diverse, 60% female, and 10% LGBTQ+. The firm recently partnered with Homethrive to offer employees eldercare case management services, alleviating some of the burden of caring for an aging relative. And in an effort to reduce the risk of burnout, Perkins Coie provides paid sabbaticals (usually eight weeks) to anyone on staff who’s reached certain tenure milestones.
