Orrick’s hiring strategy reflects its DEI priorities: The law firm considers candidate pools that are at least 30% diverse, and provides annual training for its interviewers to reduce bias. That has resulted in almost half of lateral partner hires—and 73% of associate hires—maintaining staff diversity over the past six years. Additionally, 86% of summer associates came from diverse backgrounds in 2023.
Over 99% of Orrick lawyers provided pro bono legal advice in 2022, reaching a total of more than 121,000 hours of unpaid counsel—the equivalent of hosting a 60-lawyer social impact law firm inside the organization.
