Business insiders have spoken: Asked which companies they most admire, more than 4,100 executives, directors, and analysts chose these top 50 All-Stars.

The world's 500 largest companies generated $31.2 trillion in revenues and $1.7 trillion in profits in 2014. Together, this year's Fortune Global 500 employ 65 million people worldwide and are represented by 36 countries.

Global business is back. After limping through a worldwide financial crisis and economic slowdown, the 500 largest companies ranked by revenues shattered all sorts of performance records in 2013: They racked up combined revenues of $31.1 trillion, up 2.5% from 2012, and profits soared 27% to nearly $2 trillion. China’s 95 companies (up from 89 last year) posted $5.8 trillion in revenues. The U.S. has four fewer companies on the list than last year but remains (for now) the country leader, with 128 corporations on the list—including No. 1 Wal-Mart Stores—reporting $8.6 trillion in revenues.

Around late September, the leaves on the maple trees in Vermont are turning from a verdant green to near-iridescent orange and red, attracting hordes of tourists to the area each year. 

A rural town in Vermont that's a popular peak foliage photo ops for influencers is now closing its doors to non-residents for the 2nd year in a row. Each autumn for the past 5 years, Pomfret, a town of only 900 residents, has been flooded with influencers and photo enthusiasts who are eager to pose with the state's stunning foliage, leading to traffic jams and trespassing in locals' private property. This road is a gravel and dirt road that is not maintained for the level of traffic that it gets. Remember that Vermont has had disastrous flooding, which makes care of these gravel roads worse. On one single lane winding path called Cladland Road, a resident told Fortune he'd see lines of cars pulled over to the side of the road, dozens long, 2030, 40 cars per row. The town took action last year by closing Cloudland Road to non-locals and raising $22,000 to hire patrols during busy hours to only allow locals to pass through. This year, the road will close again starting September. to address resident safety concerns. Beth Finlayson of Woodstock Chamber of Commerce told Fortune, quote, It's a very small one lane dirt road. If there are two cars parked on it, an ambulance or fire truck wouldn't be able to get through, and Vermont isn't alone. Since the pandemic. Influencer-driven tourism is booming worldwide from quaint cafes to iconic landmarks. Affordable flights have made travel more accessible for people who prioritize experiences over luxury purchases, plus the influencer marketing. The industry is expected to reach $24 billion this year, with con content creators adding to never ending bucket lists. Other popular destinations in Italy and Spain have considered stricter regulations and additional visitation fees to combat over tourism, while places like Pomfret and surrounding towns depend on tourism for income. Select board chair Benjamin Brickner notes safety has to come first. He hopes the road closure will be temporary, allowing the town to return to its peaceful rural roots as the initial surge of interest fades.

Life balance for a CEO or an entrepreneur really doesn't, it doesn't really exist. It's because you're carrying your passion, your work with you, no matter where you go, you can pretend to kind of bury it, but it's always there. Hello, I'm Dave Long, the co founder and CEO of Orange. Very fitness. I'm 45 years old and this is my daily routine. The typical time that I wake up in the morning is, uh between six and 6:30 a.m. I'm up fairly early. Um, definitely a coffee person. So my first thing in the morning is coffee often I'll work out fast food. So, besides the coffee, I'll, I'll eat after working out like my go to breakfast most days is kind of a custom smoothie with protein, some fruit Greek yogurt right now. I'm really just focused on, you know, a balanced diet, making sure I'm getting enough fuel for the workouts, enough fuel for the work day and whatever I'm trying to, I got into cold plunging years ago, you know, first off for the recovery benefits and then actually as a sleep aid, it actually, it sounds, maybe sounds wild, but the cold plunge at night actually helps you really sleep. And when I was doing it at night, I would do sauna first for a session and then finish with a cold plunge. But I kind of just had an epiphany and, and a lot of other people were doing it in the morning. Like, why not just start the day with? It's literally 3 to 4 minutes. Why not just start the day? Because I have a cold plunge in the garage. So it's readily available. I'm at the point with my daily workout routine where I really feel like I need to work out every single day to kind of feel my best and perform on any given day. It could be an orangey class on other days. I'll do either an outdoor run, which is probably 30 to 60 minutes, you know, kind of 4 to 8 miles. Um Other days, I'll do a one hour jiu jitsu session and then probably once a week, I'll do an additional strength focused workout usually about an hour, but it averages about an hour per day. The office is only about six miles from my house. So it's a pretty easy 15 minute commute. I'd say anywhere between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. is where I'm typically arriving. So I'd say, you know, 66 meetings a day. There are times when I'll do some rapid fire and some skip level meetings that are 15 or 20 minutes where I may hit 10 or 12 meetings. I think it's rare that I'm in a meeting that I shouldn't be in. I spend a lot of time really curating that. So, even though there's a lot, I think, you know, it's doing it through prioritization, all very necessary. A typical, like office day. I'm usually winding down between 5 36. It's super important for me to, you know, to get home for dinner. Recently, the thing of this Hodi from Chobani was talking about that work life balance for a CEO or an entrepreneur really doesn't, doesn't really exist. It's because you're carrying your passion, your work with you, no matter where you go, you can pretend to kind of bury it, but it's always there and it's a really important part of, you know, that type of person's life. So really, I've been thinking about it, more of what he said is really, it's more about harmony. Like how do you find the harmony and the fact that you have something that's a very dominant part of your life and it's gonna be there. But finding the tending to find the balance and knowing that it's there and not always spending so much energy trying to kind of push it down and really focus on being more present, whatever you're doing, if you're at work, being all the way there. And if you're not just working towards being present, whether it's for your kids, whether it's for whatever else you're doing that. You're focused in the moment, working to unplug from the work day almost every night, a family dinner or some sort of kids activity before that. And then, um, it's kind of a wind down. We do a walk with the family al almost every night. A lot of times I'll actually do a ruck where I'll wear a weighted backpack as part of that walk. And often the kids are on scooters or bikes as part of it. Many nights I'll do sauna 2025 minutes and then one more coal plunge before bed sleeps. One of the most important things you could possibly do for literally for everything. And so 10 o'clock is my goal. It's probably, I probably average about 10 30. My goal is absolutely, um, eight hours I average right now, probably seven hours and 10 minutes. That's how close I try. I try to sleep.

There is also has been a significant drop in requested background checks for potentially gun buyers. [ MUSIC ] Apple launches streaming service. We're already in the golden age of television. So what's next? In 2019 Apple will finally launch their video streaming service And this won't be a rerun of the battle of the [ UNKNOWN ]. Not with Reese Witherspoon, Steven Spielberg, Damien Chazelle, and a bevy of other hollywood talent on board. But don't expect any Game of Thrones level gore, as Apple plans to keep all its content family friendly. This is a big one. Orange is the new wine. Meet orange wine. Orange wines are made from white [ UNKNOWN ] grapes that keep their skins on longer. Most major analyst don't call out orange wine sales on their own just yet. But orange wines have been consistently popping up on wine list in major cities nationwide. And we predict they'll be a big hit in 2019. [ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ] Women own the Democratic ticket. Hillary's loss, two years of Trump, the metoo movement and the emotionally charged Brett Kavanaugh hearings will push more women than ever to run for the Democratic ticket for president. We predict Senators Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Kirsten Gillibrand will be in the mix as well as Hawaii's representative Tulsi Gabbard but no Oprah. All right, let's see what's in the next one. [ MUSIC ] All right, 5G arrives And flops. 5G phones are expected next year. They'll be warm to the touch and able to download the latest Marvel Movie in seconds. But will the technology actually be ready for mass consumption? As with the debut of previous generations of wireless technology, early 5G adapters will be punished with short battery life and iffy reception. Better to wait it out. The first 5G iPhones are rumored for late 2020. [ BLANK_AUDIO ]
