Nokia, led since early 2020 by CEO Pekka Lundmark and chairwoman Sari Baldauf, continues to be one of the world’s top telecommunications equipment suppliers, jostling with Ericsson for second place behind market leader Huawei. The company has been on a downward trajectory lately, with sales dropping 4% last year—though that was partly owing to pandemic-related delays in network deployments. Early in 2021, Nokia found itself among the “meme stocks” being embraced by retail investors, alongside the likes of GameStop and AMC.
