Netflix is the largest streaming video service in the world, with more than 300 million subscribers (as of the end of 2024) paying to access its massive library of TV and movie content through internet-connected televisions and other devices. The company produces a vast selection of original content in multiple languages, as well as licenses content from other providers. Netflix has also increased its presence in live sports programming, with recent deals to stream tentpole NFL, boxing, wrestling, and women’s soccer matches. The company, which began as a mail-order DVD rental business in the late 1990s, currently offers customers various tiers of monthly streaming subscriptions as well as advertising-supported options.
