On Great Place to Work’s Trust Index survey, Navy Federal Credit Union earned its highest rating in the Justice category. Employees report they are treated fairly and have a sense of belonging at the nonprofit, which holds a spot on the Best Companies list for a 12th year and remains the largest credit union in the world. In an effort to foster an even more inclusive workplace, leadership has shifted from seeking “culture fits” to thinking in terms of “culture adds” when hiring and promoting. This new framing is meant to advance equity by acknowledging the unique perspectives and qualities of each candidate. Flexibility is another key area of focus: Navy Federal offers condensed workweeks and job sharing, among other personalized accommodations.
