With over 94 million users, GCash–the fintech app from Mynt–has a larger customer base than the entire population of Germany. More than half its users are women, and the app has thrived in part due to serving the massive Filipino diaspora. It’s the Philippines first-ever startup valued over $5 billion after a recent funding round from Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
