New to our list this year, this 130-year-old pharma giant has long devoted itself to the mission: “Save and improve lives.” Though Merck shelved its own vaccine development, President Biden announced in March that the company would help produce J&J’s one-shot COVID vaccine. When current CEO Ken Frazier departs at the end of June, CFO Robert Davis will take the reins. Employees say that during a difficult year, it meant a lot that Merck managed to increase benefits to employees. That included the addition of “LifeCare” specialists who can provide help in hiring a nanny or search for virtual tutors to support e-learning.The company has “stepped up,” notes an employee.
