With a billion adults in Africa still lacking internet access, M-Kopa’s financial services provide customers left out of the formal digital economy with access to credit and digital payment solutions to help them buy smartphones and other tech products. In addition to daily payment options for smartphones, the company provides digital loans. M-Kopa also offers electric motorbikes with payment plans and works with EV partners to enable battery swapping. Customers do not require collateral, proof of income, or formal employment to access M-Kopa’s financial services. In July, the company announced it had reached 10 million customers across five African markets.
