[ MUSIC ] Welcome to Fortune Tech Debate, where we debate the issues today in two minutes. Today we're discussing Kodak, the camera company which is coming out with it's own crypto currency and what is going on. [ LAUGH ] Okay, so first it's not just a crypto currency. It's three different products. Three products, okay. Three products, one is Kodak one which is there It's gonna be a digital photo archive in licensing platform, which makes a lot of sense, this is an industry that Kodak, the famous photo company should be getting into. Okay, sounds reasonable. Right, the other is Kodak Coin which is a cryptocurrency that can be used in this platform. Not the craziest idea, and the other is BitCoin mining Which it doesn't make perfect sense but actually there's a good reason for that too. Okay, I mean my, let's jam in the breaks here. My critism of all of these is that it sounds very opportunistic. It seems like they're taking advantage of a market mania that's going on right now within the crypto currency world. I mean look at other companies that are doing similar moves. Like the Long Island Iced Tea Company changed their name to Long Blockchain Company. And their stock price is more than doubled. Now- It's brilliant. That's a great idea. It's basically doing the same thing and their stock price has tripled. It worked out great. So, yeah I mean. It's working very well on the short term but, like, how sustainable is this for an actual business plan? So, first of all. As a marketing ploy, it's great. It's already working. Their stock has tripled as incredible Is that justified? Should the stock have tripled? Probably not. Even the CEO- Yeah, I'm gonna go [ LAUGH ] and say, no .>> [ LAUGH ] Even the CEO says that that is maybe overkill. But the message that it's sending to investors in the markets that this is a company really focussed on what's new and next in the digital space Make sense and is a good idea. I mean this just reminds me of everything that was going on back in the . com days, when you had companies coming out with announcements about doing this or that, digital internet related sort of thing. And then it being rewarded in the markets by a nice stock bump. And we all know what happened at the end of the . com bubble. It didn't work out so well for everyone. So there is some underlying value in the things that Kodak is proposing. BitCoin mining might be a great idea and getting into licensing which is what they're already doing, they make a lot of money on it, also a great idea.
