Chicago-based hotel giant Hyatt operates more than 1,300 hotels and properties in 77 countries and six continents. The company has been focused on its diversity and inclusivity investments, including a robust internship program that offers signing bonuses and relocation funds to interns. Last year, the company added five historically Black schools to its campus recruitment list. It also has big renewability goals and has designated a group of its U.S hotels to transition to 100% renewable electricity, including Hyatt Grand Central in New York. It has also replaced the grass at one of its resorts with a heat- and drought-tolerant grass that requires less chemicals and 20% less water. In 2022, the company donated $500,000 to human trafficking survivor funds.
Hyatt’s RiseHY program is designed to connect young people with long-term careers in hospitality, and since 2018, more than 5,700 Opportunity Youth have joined Hyatt or a Hyatt hotel. This marks a pivotal step toward Hyatt’s global commitment to have Hyatt and Hyatt hotels hire 10,000 Opportunity Youth by 2025.
