In 2019, the health insurer's consolidated revenues grew to nearly $56.5 billion, a more than $8 billion spike from the previous year. Like other insurers, Humana was able to take advantage of the suspension of a health insurance industry fee, which lowered its tax burden. The company also boosted its earnings-per-share numbers with the help of stock buybacks. Humana’s dedication to the lucrative Medicare Advantage market, where it has captured some 18% of enrollment, continues to serve it well.
