Change the World 2024
Wood fires have helped humanity cook and keep warm for millennia. But today they’re a twofold ecological threat, contributing to both CO2 emissions and deforestation. Globant, an IT company that works extensively with agribusiness, is developing alternatives that meet rural communities’ needs while doing less harm. In Peru’s highlands, the company, in collaboration with the Qori Q’oncha project, helped install thousands of efficient cookstoves that have slashed wood consumption. And in India’s Maharashtra state, Globant has helped train farmers to grow and sell napier grass, which can be easily converted into a smokeless biofuel.
