Ford Motor
Founded by Henry Ford in 1917, the Ford Motor Company is one of the oldest American automobile manufacturers and is currently the second-largest U.S.-based automaker, behind only General Motors. The Ford family still owns a minority stake in the company and retains significant voting power on the company’s board of directors. In recent years, the company has begun producing electric vehicles in a push toward more climate-friendly cars, deemed the future of automobiles. In May 2021, President Joe Biden toured Ford’s Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Mich., where he previewed the company’s brand-new all-electric version of its F-150 pickup truck, called the Lightning.
