Working parents have had an especially rough time during the pandemic. That’s why the insurer, based in Woodland Hills, Calif., worked to help its employees with children adjust over the past year. The firm expanded its resource group Parent Connect, offering webinars and tools to aid its working parents, while also developing a site on the company’s intranet to provide resources for children in school. One working parent at Farmers notes, “The flexibility, and understanding that I have four kids at home that now have to be essentially homeschooled and that my work schedule might have to change, was more than I could have ever expected.” The insurer also doled out over $91,000 in relief to employee families in need because of COVID-19, mostly from losing household income after layoffs.
