Headquartered in Amsterdam, EXOR Group is a holding company majority-owned and controlled by Italy’s Giovanni Agnelli B.V. It has long-term investments across various sectors, predominantly in Europe and the U.S., with stakes in companies including Ferrari, Stellantis and CNH Industrial.

In 2023, it forked out €2.6 billion ($2.8 billion) for a 15% stake in Dutch electronics firm Philips, which has a major medical device division. </li>

Aggregate sales hit $37.8 trillion last year—an increase of 19%, the highest annual growth rate in the list’s history.

Total revenue for the world’s biggest companies fell 4.8% to $31.7 trillion this year—the first decline in half a decade.

Exor Group, the Netherlands-based holding fund for Italy’s Agnelli dynasty, had an eventful year. The highlight was completion of the Stellantis merger, which united automakers Fiat Chrysler and PSA into an entity in which Exor is the biggest shareholder. Exor also became the majority owner of Shang Xia, the Chinese fashion brand cofounded by Hermès. That was both Exor’s first big mainland-China investment and the first addition of a luxury brand to its portfolio, which also includes Ferrari, soccer club Juventus, and the Economist Group. However, the $9 billion sale of Exor’s PartnerRe insurance business to France’s Covéa fell through because of the pandemic.

Exor Group, a Netherlands-based investment group run by the Italian Agnelli family, added a lot to its portfolio in 2019. Exor is the leading shareholder in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which announced plans to merge with French automobile giant Groupe PSA in October 2019. The merger had yet to be finalized as of July 2020, but it's on track to create the world’s fourth-largest automaker. In December, Exor took a controlling share in Italy’s largest media group, GEDI. That acquisition added yet another name to a sprawling book of brands that includes Economist Group media, the famed Juventus football club, and sportscar manufacturer Ferrari. Exor’s big moves, however, did not translate into immediate growth, as revenue ticked down 7% from 2018.

The world's 500 largest companies generated $31.2 trillion in revenues and $1.7 trillion in profits in 2014. Together, this year's Fortune Global 500 employ 65 million people worldwide and are represented by 36 countries.

Global business is back. After limping through a worldwide financial crisis and economic slowdown, the 500 largest companies ranked by revenues shattered all sorts of performance records in 2013: They racked up combined revenues of $31.1 trillion, up 2.5% from 2012, and profits soared 27% to nearly $2 trillion. China’s 95 companies (up from 89 last year) posted $5.8 trillion in revenues. The U.S. has four fewer companies on the list than last year but remains (for now) the country leader, with 128 corporations on the list—including No. 1 Wal-Mart Stores—reporting $8.6 trillion in revenues.
