Global health services company Cigna had an up-and-down year. Despite bringing on an additional 8.4 million customers in its pharmacy division in 2021 and an 8.5% rise in sales, Cigna’s profits plummeted by 36% from 2020, to $5.37 billion. After years of litigation, an appeals court rejected Cigna’s attempt to claim a $1.85 billion breakup fee from Anthem in the wake of a merger agreement that fell apart a few years ago.
