Carrier Global is the largest heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration company in North America, serving customers in over 160 countries. The refrigeration segment offers products and services for trucks, trailers, shipping containers, and rail applications. In 2024, the company announced it had acquired renewable HVAC provider Viessmann Climate Solutions for $18 billion. Willis Carrier, the inventor of modern air conditioning, founded the company in 1915. United Technologies acquired Carrier in 1979 before the company was spun off in 2020.

Carrier, the HVAC and refrigeration giant, has remade its $22 billion business around shrinking the energy footprint of heating and cooling. It estimates that since 2020, its products have helped users avoid 490 million metric tons of greenhouse-gas emissions—the equivalent of the annual energy use of 65 million U.S. homes.
