When doctors, nurses, and other first responders lost access to childcare and in-person schooling for their kids last year, Bright Horizons responded by opening eight childcare centers, with the organization First Responders First, dedicated to parents in those essential jobs. At the same time, its own workers were on the front lines in another way, and the 35-year-old company upped pay by $4 an hour through July 2020 for those professionals. The business’s 94% female workforce, staffing 650 U.S. locations and helping to provide childcare benefits to the employees of several other companies on this list, appreciated the support. “The way this company has responded to the pandemic has really made me believe that the top-level management takes our company values very seriously,” comments one employee.
