Employees say:
"Our value of Open Company, No Bullshit really shines. I've never been at a company where all information is default-open to anyone in the company wanting to consume and comment on it. This creates a great deal of collaboration across teams, organizations, and geographic locations organically on projects and initiatives and helps teams understand if their work may duplicate other efforts planned or already in flight. In general, the ability to share and collaborate asynchronously results in fewer unnecessary meetings and a great environment for distributed teams to flourish."

Employees say: "This is—by far—the best place I have ever worked. There is no comparison. The way people genuinely live the values and care for each other, the benefits and perks that are offered, the way staff are listened to and taken care of, the culture of inclusivity and authenticity. I feel extremely proud and privileged to work here and call myself an Atlassian, and I don't take a single day for granted, even after a year. Thank you for the chance to share my experience."

Employees say:
"Team Anywhere—remote-first approach to working. Radical transparency—everything is available to read and understand. Strong compensation. People hired have high regard for company values. Product-driven—the amount of people thinking and developing the products to help make them more awesome for customers is amazing and incredible."

Employees say:
"I have been at Atlassian for 8 years, and hope to be here for 8 more! I feel incredibly supported as a working parent; the benefits provided by Atlassian are essential to my family. The addition of a fertility benefit in 2023 was so meaningful and inclusive. I love being able to work from wherever I see fit, whether it's at home or in one of our amazing, collaborative offices."

Atlassian’s Team Anywhere Lab helps global employees tailor workdays to meet their needs, as they determine whether to work in-person or remotely, or to start or end the day later based on personal factors. The provider of project management software donates 1% of its equity, profits, employee hours, and products to the Atlassian Foundation, which has donated more than $56 million and more than 230,000 volunteer hours. A good portion of this goes to Room to Read, a nonprofit supporting education for disadvantaged youth, but staff can choose which charitable organization they wish to donate their time and money to.
Every employee receives 40 hours of paid volunteer leave annually, and the company matches donations of up to $1,000 per worker. Staff can nominate their peers in the Kudos program, which highlights employee achievement and issues gift-card awards to those selected.

It’s fitting that Atlassian, a leading provider of collaboration, development, and issue tracking software for teams, would be leading the charge when it comes to employee flexibility in the new era of work. With nearly half (47%) of new hires living more than two hours away from a physical office, the company not only doesn’t have in-office work requirements, but it also doesn’t expect employees to work a traditional nine-to-five. That, however, requires intentionality in socializing employees and introducing new hires to the company and colleagues in the name of building culture. Atlassian asks new employees to share introductory blogs, assigns them all new-hire buddies, and offers a peer-to-peer recognition program called Kudos, where employees can win gifts of up to $250. “Everyone has an opportunity to get special recognition,” 93% of employees say.

Employees say:
"The values are used in large and small decisions every day. They are not platitudes. There are many opportunities to grow professionally. There are even more opportunities to connect with charity or service organizations. The company gives you two weeks of volunteer time every year, and it is easy to get more."

Employees say:
"The people, the culture, the benefits, and the opportunities. Atlassian somehow manages to balance each element of being an employer masterfully. The people truly care about one another here, and that extends very naturally to caring for our customers and company as a whole. It's an easy thing to do when Atlassian looks out for its employees first and foremost. Leadership quickly and seriously listens to us when we recognize an opportunity for growth, and they move fast to show us they heard."

"Surveys are regularly sent out to staff to pulse-check, and I feel like the company genuinely makes decisions based on survey feedback."
